Who am I?

Nice to meet you, I’m Vignesh

I’m currently a student at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor studying Human-Computer Interaction. I am a product designer who loves translating research insights into intuitive digital experiences through thoughtful visual design. I've always been fascinated by the intersection of design and technology and how design can be used to solve complex problems and craft beautiful narratives.

My design journey

My story is unconventional, and I’ve learned a lot while pivoting into product design. Below, you’ll find some fun facts about me and more about my journey into design, attached with a few pictures from my travels and Eevee (my dog).

Fun Fact: I hiked the world’s largest active volcano (Mauna Loa, the last picture) 12 hours before it erupted for the first time in over 40 years! 🌋

My Background in CS

I've always been interested in technology, and I pursued computer science in high school. I didn’t hate it, but I knew it wasn’t my calling and I wanted to find something that allowed me to be more creative.

Pivoting into Architecture

When I started college, I wanted to try something a bit more creative, so I decided to try Architecture. One of my dreams as a kid was to help design and build airports, and I thought Architecture would be my path.

Discovering UX

After taking some time to reflect, I decided to pursue a career field that combines creativity, problem-solving, and my love for technology. Fortunately, my university offered an interaction design program aligned with my interests and gave me exposure.

Diving deeper

I became super involved with UX and was pretty much living and breathing it. I even started my undergraduate university's first UX/UI design club. I also wanted to dive deeper, which is why I decided to pursue my master’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction.

In my free time

I recently got into interior design and calligraphy. I’m also a big foodie, especially when it comes to sushi, udon, or enchiladas.

I also enjoy gaming, traveling, listening to pop music, and reading a ton of medium articles.
